While I was serving my mission for my church in upstate New York, I often thought about how much I would love to paint the landscapes and historical sites I saw. I didn’t have time to do that while I was there (since I was sharing the gospel basically 14 hours a day), but I did get plenty of photos. I really loved this winter scene so I recreated it with gouache paints. I also added a young Joseph Smith figure in it. He is supposed to be heading out to tap the trees for sap to make syrup.
